Sharjah: His Highness Dr Shaikh Sultan Bin Mohammad Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, yesterday (Wednesday) visited the pavilion of the Ministry of Culture and Knowledge Development at the Sharjah International Book Fair (SIBF).
Dr Shaikh Sultan was accompanied by Shaikh Nahyan Bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Culture and Knowledge Development.
Dr Shaikh Sultan hailed the efforts exerted by Shaikh Nahyan to advance the culture and knowledge sector in the UAE on the regional and international level.
Dr Shaikh Sultan and Shaikh Nahyan held talks regarding the cultural scene in the UAE. The Sharjah Ruler then reviewed publications showcased by the ministry, and new releases targeting children and adults.
He also acquainted himself with research and cultural, educational and entertainment literary printed and electronic materials published by the ministry.
Dr Shaikh Sultan praised the materials on show, and the cultural, technological and technical services provided by the ministry’s pavilion to the public. He pointed out that the ministry has always been outstanding in its participation in every edition of SIBF.
Shaikh Nahyan hailed the leading role played by Sharjah in activating and supporting the cultural movement through financial and moral support provided by Dr Shaikh Sultan. He highlighted Dr Shaikh Sultan’s comprehensive vision to embrace culture and care for Arab intellectuals.
Shaikh Nahyan pointed out that SIBF has become a prominent brand and a beacon for culture in the UAE, Gulf and Arab world. He said that this has been the case for many years, with improvements being made every year.
Shaikh Nahyan said that this reaffirms that the UAE, under the leadership of President His Highness Shaikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, is a leading role model in creative thinking, culture, scientific advancement and knowledge because the nation gives great attention to the cultural movement.
