Dubai: Sindhi singers Shafi Fakeer, Shaman Ali Mirali and Farzana Bahar are set to perform live music and Sindhi stage drama on Friday at Pakistan Association Dubai.

The gala event is expected to draw a large number of fans from the UAE as well as from Saudi Arabia and Bahrain.

The invite-only event is organised by the Mehran Cultural Council (MCC) in Dubai, in collaboration with the Department of Culture, Tourism and Antiques of the Government of Sindh, Pakistan.

The chief guest is Syed Sardar Shah, Minister of Culture, Tourism and Antiques, Government of Sindh. The honorary guest is Akbar Laghari, secretary, Department of Culture, Tourism and Antiques, Government of Sindh.

Dr Qadir Sarki, MCC chairman, said since 2005, the council has been organising such events in Dubai. He added that MCC is a cultural organisation belonging to the Indus Valley civilisation, whose history dates back 5,000 years and extends from Kashmir in the north to Karachi in the south, and of which Mohenjo-Daro is an icon.

“We, at Mehran Cultural Council, Dubai, always wanted to invite inspirational and devotional singers for our people to have amazing and mesmerising form of entertainment and fun. We have always succeeded with the help of our sponsors and Government of Sindh to provide high quality and popular Sindhi music,” he said.

Dr Sarki added that Dubai is home to Sindhis from various regions who speak different regional dialects.

“Shafi Fakeer, Shaman Ali Mirali and Farzana Bahar are the best choice, as they can sing in Sindhi, Seraiki, Urdu, and also in Baluchi.”

The singers are a mix of Sufi, playback, modern and devotional music singers and have won awards from many organisations and the Sindh and Pakistan governments.

The singers have conducted similar performances in countries such as India, France, Germany, the UK, the US and the UAE.
