Dubai: The Sultan Bin Ali Al Owais Cultural Foundation will host a concert by young Jordanian vocalist Macadi Nahhas on November 19.

The event will be held at 9pm at the theatre of the Al Owais Cultural Foundation, at the foundation’s premises located on Riqqa Street, Deira, Dubai. Hosting this gala event comes as part of the foundation’s efforts to foster and support Arab talents in the fields of art, music and culture, which aim at promoting fine art and presenting it to culture enthusiasts and different generations.

Organisers said Macadi is known for her remarkable talent, distinguished voice and exceptional stage presence and has developed her own singing style, which aims at reviving long-forgotten music and songs from Arab and Middle Eastern heritage and folklore and reintroducing them as per the requirements of this day and age.

She has specialised in reviving songs from Jordanian, Syrian, Lebanese and Iraqi folklore, and breathing new life into them in her contemporary style.

Macadi was born in Amman in 1977 and obtained a diploma in music from the Music Conservatory of Beirut. Her musical career began following her debut live performance at Jerash Festival in 1997.

Since then, Macadi has been active in the music scene, performing in various cultural festivals and events in Jordan, Lebanon, Tunisia, Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Denmark, Canada, USA, Bahrain, Belgium, the Netherlands and more.

Macadi’s debut album, Kan Ya Ma Kan (Once Upon a Time), which was released in 2003, was based on Iraqi heritage and involved the participation of the Iraqi National Symphony Orchestra led by renowned conductor Mohammad Ameen Izzat.
