Abu Dhabi: The Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan Foundation announced it will contribute in the eleventh session of the Liwa Date Festival this year by supporting the participation of 40 Emirati families in the popular festival, which is considered one of the most important cultural and heritage events in the country.

Held under the patronage of Shaikh Mansour Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Presidential Affairs and Chairman of the Foundation, the festival is a celebration of ratab, the half-ripened dates, which are in season in the UAE from July to September.

A spokesperson at the foundation said that the organisation’s contribution is part of its strategy to support Emirati families through its various initiatives, including helping them participate, showcase, and market their products in various exhibitions across the country such as Global Village in Dubai, Sharjah Expo, and the Shaikh Zayed Heritage Festival in Al Wathba, among others.

The organisation helps families by encouraging them to increase production, become self-reliant, and procure varied and sustainable sources of income.
