CAIRO: The Cairo-based Arab Society for Islamic Civilisation and Arts has named Shaikh Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai and Minister of Finance, as the Civilisational Personality of the Year, in recognition of his role in supporting intercultural communication and enriching human science.
Assistant secretary-general of the society Dr Huda Darwish said the nomination was made by a supreme committee made up of the board of directors and presidents of a number of Egyptian universities, including Cairo University.
She noted that the society will hold a press conference about the award at Al Mokawloon Al Arab Sporting Club in Cairo on August 2.
