Dubai: The Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Knowledge Foundation (MBRF) is joining hands with the Emirates Youth Council to hold a Youth Circle in Arabic on Twitter on Wednesday.

The circle will be live online from 6.30am to 8.30pm.

The first Youth Circle to be held on the social networking site, the session is titled “How to Make Arabic the Language of Science and Knowledge?”.

The real-time discussion will take place on Twitter via the hashtags: #Youth_Circle and #Bil_Arabi, allowing participants around the world to voice their opinions and share their thoughts.

A video documenting the session will be published later.

Interactive discussions throughout the Youth Circle are set to tackle such various topics as the host of activities organised to support the Arabic language as part of the Year of Giving 2017.

The debate will also explore how present and future generations can benefit from using Arabic in science, given the language’s flexibility and capacity to transfer knowledge to Arab societies everywhere, in addition to the role of both traditional and social media in promoting the use of Arabic as the main language of online dialogue in the Arab world.

Shamma Suhail Faris Al Mazroui, Minister of State for Youth and chair of the Emirates Youth Council, is set to participate in the Youth Circle, along with Jamal Bin Huwaireb, CEO of MBRF, Aisha Bin Bayat Al Falasi, head of the Government Communication Unit at Dubai Educational Zone, along with members of the media.

The circle event is aimed at producing bold new ideas, initiatives, proposals and programmes that bolster and promote the Arabic language across all platforms, said organisers.

The Foundation had previously launched the Bil Arabi initiative — on UN Arabic Language Day — to promote Arabic in cultural discourse and knowledge-related projects, and exporting the rich Arab culture, which was a historical hotbed for science and civilisation.
