Abu Dhabi: The 25th anniversary of the Abu Dhabi International Book Fair (ADIBF) will be celebrated this year on May 7-13 during the event’s run.

Under the patronage of His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre (Adnec) is set to host over 500,000 titles and 1,181 exhibitors from over 63 countries.

Annually, ADIBF seeks to improve the publishing industry in the Mena region through offering a literary platform for book lovers, booksellers, publishers, distributors and industry professionals.

As a key highlight of its silver jubilee edition, ADIBF 2015 will also feature a series of talks, exhibitions and poetry readings that celebrate the UAE’s founding father, Shaikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan, as Focus Personality of the Year.

Humaid Matar Al Daheri, Acting Group CEO at Adnec, said: “The Adnec team is honoured to contribute to the success of this important cultural event through providing all kinds of support that will ensure uninterrupted visitor flow across the exhibition venues. We are all geared up to welcome writers, intellectuals, thought leaders and publishers who will be sharing their thoughts and perspectives on contemporary cultural and literary issues.”

Exhibition visitors are entitled to 6,000 parking spaces and several restaurants and cafes that open round the clock. Additionally, the venue includes a bank branch and one for the Department of Economic Development, in addition to a number of ATMs, flower arrangement service as well as an emergency and first aid unit that provides basic medical care in emergency cases.

The event will include dedicated areas delivering cultural and professional programmes including an innovative Spotlight on Rights initiative that serves as a forum for business and contract negotiations. While the eZone and Service Providers Area showcase new technology and digital content, the Illustrators’ Corner will provide exhibitors with a venue to introduce their work to professionals from the book industry.
