Abu Dhabi: Thousands of Emiratis and expatriates across the nation offered morning prayers on Monday as UAE celebrates the first day of Eid Al Fitr.
Earlier the the UAE Moon Sighting Committee announced Monday as the first day of Eid Al Fitr, as Sunday was the last day of Ramadan.
The committee, headed by Sultan Bin Saeed Al Badi, Minister of Justice, said that after a number of legitimate measures, as well as several contacts with neighbouring countries, it was established that Sunday was the last day of Ramadan, and Monday is the first day of Shawwal, marking the first day of Eid Al Fitr in the UAE.
Al Badi and the committee members extended greetings to President His Highness Shaikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai.
They also congratulated Their Highnesses Members of the Supreme Council and Rulers of the Emirates, General Shaikh Mohammad Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Abu Dhabi Crown Prince and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, and Crown Princes and deputy rulers, as well as the people of UAE and Arab and Muslim nations.
Eid prayer timings
Eid Al Fitr prayer times will be: 06:09 in Abu Dhabi, 06:05 in Dubai, Sharjah, Ajman and Umm Al Quwain; 06:01 in Ras Al Khaimah and 05.59 in Fujairah.
