Talk show: Influence of English on Arabic to be discussed

Television talk show host Nashwa Al Ruwaini will discuss the language priorities among Arab youth given the influence of English in popular culture.

Dubai: Television talk show host Nashwa Al Ruwaini will discuss the language priorities among Arab youth given the influence of English in popular culture.

Nashwa Al Ruwaini's self-titled show will air on Dubai TV today at 10.30pm and again on Saturday at 6pm.

The show will seek to answer why "a majority of young Arabs" prefer to converse in English, as well as reasons behind a new slang that is peppered with English.

Nashwa is expected to discuss with young participants why the Arabic language is being abandoned.
