Abu Dhabi: A purpose-built bus will run between central Abu Dhabi and the airport for a month from Friday.

The service is being launched as a joint venture between the Swiss Embassy, Switzerland Tourism, the Swiss Business Council, Abu Dhabi, and Abu Dhabi Bus Department of Transportation.

The launch will coincide with Swiss National Day on August 1, which will be celebrated in Abu Dhabi and Dubai. Mohammad Al Hammadi, Business Development Manager, Department of Transport, said: "The Department of Transport, Abu Dhabi, is pleased to celebrate the introduction of the bus service with the Swiss National Day and thanks the Swiss Embassy for their support and for encouraging people to use public transport.

"We are looking forward to working with the Swiss cities and to have a look into how public transport systems work in Switzerland."
