Sharjah Book Fair attracts American publishing houses
American publishing houses will participate for the first time during next month's Sharjah World Book Fair, organisers confirmed on Monday.
Sharjah: American publishing houses will participate for the first time during next month's Sharjah World Book Fair, organisers confirmed on Monday.
Major publishing houses from over 39 countries from Arab world and from Europe, Asia, and America will participate at the international book fair that will be held form December 5 to December 14 at the Sharjah Expo Centre.
"This year, for the first time, the United Sates of America will participate in Sharjah's Book Fair and will provide visitors with a wide variety of books," said Abdullah Al Owais, Director General of Sharjah Department of Culture.
More than 119 publishers from various countries of the world will offer books on a range of subjects and categories such as electronics, Islam and children's books.
Several wings of the expo will be dedicated Arabic and English books, and a number of other language books.
The children wings will include educative and entertainment, in addition to cultural programmes that will be held on the side line of the book fair.
As part of the book fair activities there will be a symposium, lectures and poetry nights to be held at the Sharjah Cultural Palace.
Another unique attraction this year is 'The Sharjah Award for the UAE Book', that will be enforced by the Organising Committee of the Sharjah World Book Fair this year, as instructed by His Highness Dr. Shaikh Sultan Bin Mohammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah.
