Abu Dhabi: It was a special day out for the families and friends at the Emirates Palace Auditorium on Saturday afternoon.
They were there to cheer on and support their loved ones participating in the Concert for Children and Presentation of the Education Project "Wunderkinder", an event organised as part of Abu Dhabi Classics.
Students from Raha International School, along with their teacher Wendy Fullerton, brought the biography of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart to life. Using various instruments, sounds that Mozart heard during his lifetime echoed throughout the auditorium while Fullerton narrated the extraordinary journey of the highly regarded classical music genius.
Jaden Lee, a budding pianist, even demonstrated two 'tricks' that Mozart used to do while performing. Donning a wig reminiscent of Mozart's time, he then performed Mozart's Minuet KV 130 - first with a scarf being place on top of the piano keys and then while blindfolded!
Various members of the Vienna Philharmonic also lent their talents to the programme to support the fledgling artists as well as to give a taste of what to expect during their performance later that evening.
The British International School - Al Khubairat also showcased their musical talents.
First up was Lewin Yazici on the Euphonium accompanied by Jonathan Lyall from the Vienna Philharmonic on the piano. Performing Giaccomo Rossini's Variations on a theme from 'The Barber of Seville', he impressed the audience with his impressive performance.
The school's orchestra ended the programme with a resounding performance of Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy Wedding March from 'A Midsummer Night's Dream' to resounding applause from all who attended.
