Mohammad inaugurates new headquarters of Cultural and Scientific Association

Dubai: His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, on Saturday inaugurated the new headquarters of the Culture and Science Association.
Shaikh Mohammad unveiled the plaque of the new premises, which cost Dh80 million.
He toured various sections and halls before he stopped at the library where he was briefed on its contents of scientific and literary books in Arabic and English.
Shaikh Mohammad also visited the exhibition hall, which houses an exhibition of the UAE's heritage and archaeology. He listened to presentations on the exhibition's collections of masterpieces, manuscripts and archaeological discoveries from different sites in the UAE which is rich in its heritage and civilisation.
Shaikh Mohammad lauded efforts of the association board and called on its chairman and members to activate the association's role in the local and Arab cultural arena and to contribute to the domestic cultural scene in a way that reflects the UAE's rich culture and heritage.
Achievements
He expressed satisfaction at its luxurious premises' and interior design as well as its outside engineering design which combines Arab and Islamic architecture and the modern design.
Shaikh Mohammad along with a number of shaikhs and senior officials listened to a speech by Sultan Saqr Al Suwaidi, Deputy Chairman of the association, who highlighted the role and achievements of the association.
Al Suwaidi expressed his gratitude to Shaikh Mohammad for his continuous support and encouragement to the association's progress and the literary and cultural movement in the UAE.
He outlined the achievements of the association since its establishment 20 years ago.
He said the establishment of the culture association was in line with Shaikh Mohammad's vision and has been receiving great support from him.
He added that the association supervises the organisation of the Rashid Award for Scientific Excellence and the Al Owais Award for Studies and Scientific Creativity to encourage young talented nationals and honour the outstanding ones in both culture and science fields.
