Health issues addressed during event

Abu Dhabi: Health care professionals from the Health Authority Abu Dhabi (HAAD) are promoting early detection of diseases and responding to health-related issues during the ongoing Liwa Date Festival.

The HAAD plans to provide educational material and counselling to the public in areas such as the early detection of breast cancer, controlling obesity, diabetes and working in the heat. The emirate of Abu Dhabi regulatory body for the health care sector also hopes to establish partnerships and cooperative relationships with various government and private organisations in the health, food, environment and safety sectors.

"HAAD's moral duty is to reduce the need for care and treatment, while ensuring that care is of the highest standard of quality if needed. Collective action for health promotion does not succeed only by laws and official decisions," said Dr Salim Adib, manager, Public Health at HAAD.
