Abu Dhabi: A campaign that introduces the history and monuments of the UAE will begin today.

Anasy Media Production will launch its series of events for the national campaign — Home of History, Future's Nation. The campaign aims to introduce the history and monuments of the UAE through various events, the most important of which is distributing the first documentary about the UAE's archaeology and history, Home of History, Future's Nation.

The film, produced by Anasy, embodies and reveals the vision of Shaikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan, who has said: "He who has no past, has neither present nor future". The documentary is a fulfilment of the call of President His Highness Shaikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, to enhance national identity — with history as one of its permanent constituents.

The film features important archaeological discoveries that will fascinate the world and change the course of history and the perspective of archaeology towards the region. It provides clear evidence the history of humanity on UAE soil dates back to more than 150,000 years ago.

The documentary will be distributed to all schools, universities, federal and local governmental departments, cultural institutions, associations, UAE embassies abroad, foreign embassies and diplomatic missions in the UAE to reach the largest possible number of people.

The campaign starts by organising a group of heritage-oriented academic lectures at a number of universities in the UAE in collaboration with the Architectural Heritage Society. The lectures are delivered by experts and specialist scientists in history and archaeology.

The campaign is organised under the patronage of Shaikh Nahyan Bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, in collaboration with the Architectural Heritage Society and sponsored by the Union National Bank.

The film is a colourful portrayal of the UAE that faithfully traces its ancient history, highlighting archaeological discoveries and presenting a vivid picture of the UAE's landmarks and people.

Narrator and main character of the film, archaeologist Dr Walid Yasin and manager of the Archaeology Department at Abu Dhabi Culture & Heritage, takes the viewer on a journey back in time around the UAE unveiling one by one its treasures from under the hot desert sand.

Jigsaw

The search and excavation operations for archaeological findings, carried out by British, German, French, Danish groups in the UAE since 1959 discovered a great number of ancient objects which proved the presence of man in this area since the Stone Age.

Each year a few more pieces are fitted into the jigsaw which is building up a picture of life here in days gone by. These outstanding discoveries are historic symbols which signify the continuous progress of mankind, seen as record of our ancestors' everlasting heritage.
