Dubai: More than 100 authors taking part in the Emirates Airline Festival of Literature were entertained by  school children at the opening ceremony of the festival on Wednesday.

Poetry performances in both English and Arabic were a special treat for the authors, along with the first airing of the festival anthem 'The Adventure', performed by more than 200 students from the Jumeirah English Speaking School (JESS).

"If I had to describe in a ntushell our festival this year, I would say bigger, better and busier. There's going to be a real festival 'buzz' throughout the four days of the event," Isobel Abulhoul, Director of the festival said in her opening speech at the Intercontinental Hotel, Dubai Festival City.

"A typical day for a visitor could involve a discussion with a world famous author, attendance at a creative writing or translation workshop finishing up with a concert or an impromptu storytelling session," she said.

The literature festival runs from March 10-13 at Dubai Festival City.
