Abu Dhabi: Shaikh Saeed Bin Mohammad Al Nahyan, Deputy Inspector General at the Interior Ministry, on Friday hailed the keenness of President His Highness Shaikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan to promote the culture of moderation mandated by Islam.
He further hailed Shaikh Khalifa's support to Muslim scholars for playing a significant role in promoting tolerance and moderation among the Muslim youth.
Shaikh Saeed made his remarks at his Ramadan majlis, which hosted Muslim scholars and preachers who are in the UAE upon Shaikh Khalifa's invitation.
The senior official underscored the need to combat extremism and the culture of violence and hatred as well as peaceful co-existence among nations and all peoples of the world.
"Islam recognises and respects all preceding heavenly religions and calls for peace, solidarity and love, a fact that refutes its enemies' claims and efforts to distort its positive image and humane aspect," stressed Shaikh Saeed at the meeting which was attended by a group of prominent Muslim scholars, shaikhs and dignitaries.
