Solar-powered flag illustrates innovative spirit
The 1.5-metre height and three-metre long flag is powered by coloured Solar Photovoltaic Module array
Dubai: The Energy and Environment Park (Enpark), a sustainable community model for commercial and residential use and a member of Tecom Investments, Wednesday announced it commemorated the 38th UAE National Day in collaboration with Dubai Studio City (DSC) and PTL Solar by donating a solar powered flag to the UAE.
The 1.5-metre height and three-metre long flag is powered by coloured Solar Photovoltaic Module array, with photosensitive semiconductor devices made of photovoltaic cells assembled in modules.
The specially designed module resembles the UAE flag and will generate more than 1 megawatt a year. It is displayed at the Butterfly Roundabout at the entrance to Dubai Media City.
Ali Bin Towaih, Executive Director, Enpark, said: "The solar power flag strongly illustrates the innovative techniques we adopt in driving the sustainability message across to everyone in the community. And, we consider the 38th UAE National Day an appropriate time to raise awareness on clean technologies and its importance to the contemporary society."
