Pepsi, an abandoned dog, showed up a few months ago at a farm in the Al Falah area of Sharjah. He was taken in by the farm’s watchman and living under his care and mercy. Until one day he met another good Samaritan, a woman who lived nearby.

During a walk one afternoon, the woman realised that Pepsi was following her from a distance, wanting to come close but keeping a comfortable distance. However, that did not last long and he succumbed to her charm. He would then eat with the woman every day, play gently with her dogs, get some extra human attention and then sneak back to the farm’s watchman.

One day the woman noticed that Pepsi did not come to play. Two days later, she went up to the watchman and was told that a woman in a black pick-up truck took the dog. The search for Pepsi continued for the following days and on the seventh day he returned to the farm in a horrific state.

He was rushed to the vet with multiple infested dog bite wounds. He was dehydrated, had bites over his neck, head and ears and seemed to be fighting for his life. His determination allowed him to escape death and to everyone’s surprise he has made an incredible recovery.

No one has been able to answer the mysterious question, where was he for a week? Who was this woman in the pick-up truck? Was he abducted and used for dog fighting? Was he a victim of feral dog attacks? I really want to know how he made it back home after seven days. The questions are simply endless and undefined.

We advise people to be vigilant if a stranger lurks around their pet. And please don’t abandon your pets, because they suffer greatly. In majority of the cases, pets are not even sterilised giving birth to puppies in a world where millions of healthy young pets are killed for the lack of homes. Whoever left Pepsi to the will of God has directly contributed to his deterioration as a living creature. Only this dog knows what might have happened to him in the week that he went missing. He returned home with a foot in the grave.

The only certainty we are left with is that Pepsi has surely suffered a great deal and he is in need of a permanent home. Should you feel that you are that very reliable guardian willing to offer this fellow the life that he deserves, please do contact us urgently at info@friendsofanimalsdxb.com or call us on 0507887025.
