During the recent Eid break, I visited Khor Fakkan beach. I could see hundreds of people splashing around in the water.

At the same time, jet skis were being rented out to visitors. Boats, too, were providing a service to sight-seers. However, I was surprised to note that there were no safety and security measures in place for people who were swimming in the water.

Boats were plying on and jet skis were speeding by — some passed right by the swimmers. It was a mess!

I realised there was a need for more space and for separation when two jet skis collided and a woman injured her leg. This situation could be repeated.

So I would like to request the authorities to kindly look into this matter and do the needful. Boating routes and jet ski areas should be separated from places where the public is permitted to swim or wade.
