Dubai: During a recent visit to the Dubai Creek Park with my family and friends who are visiting the UAE, we were welcomed by an unaesthetic view of a time-worn and shabby national flag at the entrance gate.

I thought this was a setback. The park is a major attraction in the emirate for its serene creekside scenery. My friends were visiting the country, and I thought of showing them around. This was one of our stops and I was worried it would tarnish the image of the upkeep of the city.

This gate is used by several families and children as it is the main entrance for Children’s City, which is located within the vicinity of the park. This is a favourite hangout for many, including myself, during the weekends.

The nation is emerging as one of the top travel and business destination. It has excelled in many aspects of economy and commercial sectors. The flag is the national honour and we need to make sure that it is waving with all the splendor that the UAE truly deserves.
