I wanted to raise awareness about how people can reuse plastic bottles, instead of just throwing them away. I’ve adopted a green initiative; an idea that readers can also utilise to benefit the environment.

Nowadays, almost everyone carries the plastic water bottles around with them as they are easy to dispose and easily provide a quick drink. However, the hike in the purchase of these bottles is also resulting in the deterioration of the environment as some plastics can take up to 450 years to decompose.

So, it is imperative that we look for ways to recycle them and find out techniques to prolong their lives as much as we can. I made the best use of the bottles by recycling them and converting them into beautiful hanging stationery holders. I used the French technique of crochet and decorated them to make decorative items out of sheer waste.

As the winters are withdrawing, people have a lot of wool leftover. This remaining wool can be used in this technique to combine innovation, creativity and style. All you need is a crochet hook, the bottom half of old plastic bottles, wool and a little bit of skill. Through recycling like this, you can also learn a new technique.

I urge all readers to find a creative way to recycle old water bottles instead of adding to the landfills in the country.
