Laundry is hung to dry in balconies. Image Credit: Albert L

I write this report as a precautionary note to address the current menace at Al Musalla Area, in Dubai, where the whole area has become a mess. Bachelors are living in unhygienic conditions. They dry their laundry on the balconies and windows and have even started hanging the laundry outside the buildings by putting up a rope across the walls.

They put their beddings and belongings out to dry on Fridays on other people’s cars or on the pavement. They sit out in the evenings on the pavement. They smoke and eat there and then throw the rubbish on the road and dirty the place. They spit chewed betel leaves on to the walls and the roads, too.

Children and women are unable to move around freely due to this behaviour. We are unable to get parking spots at night as they occupy all the parking spaces with pick-up trucks.

We need the authorities’ help to stop such behaviour and maintain a harmony for the families. I have been living in this area for over 17 years and have seen this transition. We require the help of the authorities to take appropriate steps.
