I highly commend the efforts of the authorities in the UAE in making roads safe for drivers and pedestrians. In this context, may I bring to the attention of the authorities concerned, through the help of Gulf News, to consider creating a pedestrian crossing along Al Karama Street in Abu Dhabi near the mosques and churches in the area?

The newly installed fences along this road are appreciated but it would shorten the walk of commuters if a pedestrian bridge or crossing is also made available; a similar crossing like the one installed in front of Shaikh Khalifa Hospital, which is further along on the same road, can be replicated.

Though other buses along Airport Road are available, there are also regular commuters using the bus service going to these mosques and churches located between Airport Road and Al Karama Street in Abu Dhabi. Additionally, the area houses two schools, the soon to open Mushrif Central Park, a football field and residents living in villas.

There is a good number of people who will appreciate infrastructure for safe and danger-free crossing. Similarly, this will certainly make it easier for drivers using this road and avoid any accidents, too. Pedestrians will not be a surprise to them while they cross the road.

I look forward to a positive resolution to this concern that would aim to benefit everyone.
