A few days ago, at a traffic intersection in Sharjah, I came across this short pickup truck that was piled up with construction material in an unsafe manner. Worse was the fact that the pickup truck was shorter than the length of the boards, which were lashed with flimsy thin nylon ropes that could snap at any time.

Also there were no red warning lights at the protruding end of the boards, putting rear motorists at great risk.

At a roundabout or a turn, the thin ropes had the potential or likelihood to snap due to shifting of the boards to one side, spilling all boards on the road and thereby putting all other motorists at great risk.

The company’s representative should have used a normal 3T pickup truck, which is longer, to carry these long boards and should have ensured that the boards were secured with lashing belts.

I thought it would be ideal to bring it up to the notice of the public and authorities so that this unsafe act and correct method of carrying such boards is spread to the community.
