A truck was seen carrying load in an unsafe manner. Image Credit: Arushi Madan

A few days ago, I was travelling near Sharjah’s Caterpillar intersection, in Industrial Area 3. I came across a small truck that was loaded up with many tyres.

The tyres were piled in the truck in a careless manner and were not secured by a rope. There wasn’t even any cover or tarpaulin over the tyres and they were exposed to the sun. If the truck took a sharp or quick turn, there was a real possibility that the pile of tyres could have toppled out. If that happened, it could have lead to a severe accident. I was really scared the whole time we were driving next to it.

This is an extremely dangerous practice and should be avoided. The driver should have secured the load before he started driving. The people who transport such goods need to be mindful to avoid untoward accidents. They just need to use straps and make sure they’re tightened. It is necessary to transport the load safely, for the security of others on the road.

Additionally, I would like to draw the attention of the relevant authorities to this matter. They need to be strict when it comes to penalising such motorists.
