Dubai, a city that offers an array of clothing, also understands the need to recycle them in the long run. Over the years, the authorities have encouraged the importance of being green by placing recycling bins in prominent locations across residential areas.

Interestingly, there are also recycling bins for used clothing supported by environmentally conscious organisations which offer residents an extra option of recycling clothes along with paper, glass and plastic. There are several of these boxes in the new residential areas of the city, such as International City, Greens, Gardens and various petrol stations. Other areas in the city have families dumping their old clothes in garbage bins or leaving them next to dustbins in clear plastic bags or giving them away.

However, there seems to be no logical reasoning of size and type when giving away old clothes and it eventually goes to waste. Since there are people willing to donate old clothes in good condition, there is a need for these boxes in places like Bur Dubai, Deira, Karama and other nearby residential areas. It is an excellent initiative by recycling companies and offers a chance for more people and organisations to get together and become environmentally friendly.
