Survival of the fittest Residents find it very difficult to use the Metro during rush hours as they are jostled in the melee either to get into the trains or off.

The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) in Dubai take all the necessary effort to provide the best possible facilities and comfort for Dubai Metro users. However, commuters sometimes forget to follow the rules and maintain discipline.

Chaotic scenes are seen at major Metro junctions during peak hours, when people jostle to get into the trains without leaving any space for the passengers who have to alight from the train at the same time.

Elderly people, women and children find it very difficult to use the Metro during these hours as they too are jostled in the melee either to get into the trains or to alight.

This picture was taken at Union Metro junction a few days ago during peak evening hours when passengers were virtually scrambling to board the train without having any respect for other passengers. The RTA should enforce rules to make a queue system to board the trains. They could also extend the stop time of trains by a few seconds - especially during peak hours.
