This was the sight that greeted the residents of Industrial Area 6, in Sharjah on Eid Al Adha, from 7.40am onwards. The number of animals waiting to be slaughtered increased as the day progressed and around 11.15am the queue with livestock was long.
Despite repeated public awareness reports in the neswspapers, residents violate the law by slaughtering the sacrificial animal on the pavement of their respective buildings.
Educated people should not indulge in practices, which are unlawful and unhygienic. Chopping and cleaning the meat in full view of other residents can be avoided when the municipality has made extensive arrangements to deal with the rush of the sacrificial animals.
Abiding by the laws of the land is our prime duty.
