Buildings awaiting demolition should be secured to ensure the safety of passers-by

When waiting at a traffic signal at the intersection of First Industrial Street and King Faisal Street in Sharjah, Gulf News reader Syed Kabir Nasir came across a "serious hazard".
The community reporter said: "I would like to point out that when a building is ready to be demolished it does not mean that it can be left in a condition that creates serious danger to passing traffic and the public. [This] big pipe hangs loosely near a building that has been vacant for more than a year. It can fall at any time and endanger lives. The concerned authorities should take appropriate measures to prevent any accident."
