Sharjah: We are all looking for a clean and healthy environment to survive in and leave behind for our future generations. We interact with our surroundings on a daily basis and it is necessary for things to be clean. But, some people seem to take their surroundings for granted and discard waste wherever they find convenient.

This photograph was taken on a pedestrian bridge in Al Nuaimiyaharea, in Ajman. People often complain about there not being enough pedestrian crossings or bridges. I’m grateful to the authorities for building so many in Ajman, but some people don’t seem to care and dump litter on the bridge. They could walk a few extra steps and throw it in the trash cans, again provided by the authorities. But, their lazy and nonchalant attitude takes over.

The authorities have taken all the necessary efforts, such as provide garbage bins and even imposing fines on those who litter. But, some people ruin the beauty and clean image of the UAE. The people who walk past are exposed to this rubbish and it could be a breeding ground for many diseases. Not to mention the unappealing view that they have to witness. I request people to please be more responsible and not litter.
