Systemic breakdown?
Gulf News reader Anuradha Iyer captured this sight on camera while driving on a service road parallel to Sharjah Airport Road. She said: “The bumper of one of the cars was sticking out of the truck and posed a serious threat to other motorists. I was driving just behind this truck and maintained a very safe distance. As I had anticipated, after driving a few metres, the bumper broke away and fell onto the road. Thankfully, I [had time] to brake. The motorist behind me who was busy talking on his mobile phone — without a handsfree device — also had to brake suddenly and he reacted by blaring his horns!
I strongly suggest that authorities heavily fine such truck owners and also motorists who talk on their phones while driving. Goes without saying that both these drivers posed a very real risk to me.”
