I live on Sharjah’s Buhaira Corniche. A few days ago, when I reached my parked car, I was shocked to see smoke rising from my car’s hood and I could smell something burn. I then noticed that a cigarette and lighter was lying there (as seen in photograph).
I do not have words to describe this irresponsible behaviour by people. Who would do something so dangerous? If I hadn’t reached in time anything could have happened!
I have noticed that it is now very common for people to smoke in their balconies and then throw the cigarettes down. In the past there have been accidents and fires have started due to lit cigarette butts being disposed incorrectly. People have lost their homes, cars and other personal belongings due to fire. And yet people continue to be careless.
I request the authorities to take strict action against such people to make our society safer.
