I live in the Abu Shagara area, in Sharjah. Close to the Abu Shagara Park, there is a stretch of pavement alongside a line of neem or margosa trees. This place is very pleasant in the morning and is popularly used by many residents for their morning walk.

When I went for a walk there a few days ago, I noticed that a car was parked on this sidewalk, blocking the walkway. It seemed like the driver was unable to find a space to park his car the previous night and so had decided to squeeze his car in between two cars in this manner (as seen in photograph).

Because of this, people were finding it difficult to walk on the pavement. Parents with baby strollers struggled to squeeze the strollers through the narrow space that was left by the car on the pavement.

It is a known fact that there is a huge shortage of parking spaces in Abu Shagara. Many drivers use this reason to park their cars on the pavement, like this particular one and many others conveniently double park their cars during night hours. This is no justification to violate parking regulations.

The authorities should intervene and take appropriate action against violators, while sorting out the issue of parking space shortage.
