I live on Maliha Road in Sharjah. There’s a large number of school buses that travel on this road to pick and drop students, due to the nearby school district. A major problem with these school buses is that many of them perform their pick-ups and drop-offs on the highway itself and not on the inner service lanes.
Keeping this is mind, hundreds of loaded trucks also ply this road due to the Sharjah Inland Container Depot located just few a kilometres away. With such heavy vehicles and other traffic, these school buses waiting on the main road for delayed students and parents is just a disaster waiting to happen.
The screech of trucks braking hard to stop in time is a common sound for all residents in this area. I hope the school authorities look into this matter and the authorities enforce a ban on school buses stopping on the main roads.
