Bad luck got in way, Al Jazira's Brazilian striker says
Abu Dhabi: Despite their exit from the AFC Champions League on Tuesday night, Al Jazira's players expressed satisfaction with their performance against Al Ahli.
"This is football. You win some and lose some," Ricardo Oliveira, theirBrazilian striker, said. "I am sad for the fans and for my colleagues because we played a good match against a strong team and could have finished the match winners, but bad luck came in the way."
Goalkeeper Ali Khaseef said: "We scored three goals against one of the continent's top teams, which is not an easy task. We missed some chances… and in football you pay for missed chances. I believe we should keep our heads held high because losing in shootouts is not such a catastrophe."
Meanwhile, Al Ahli's players were overjoyed. Taisir Al Jasem said: "I want to congratulate both teams for their show. I am happy we won against Al Jazira, who did not lose a single match in the group stage, but I am also aware we committed some mistakes in defence."
Emad Al Hosani said: "I believe we showed better stamina than Al Jazira… Their first half performance was brilliant despite missing some chances."
