Kamal Hassan is IIFA bound

Kamal Haasan. That name will serve as yet another reason to swoop into Singapore to experience some movie magic at the International Indian Film Academy Awards weekend.

Word is in that this South Indian matinee idol will unveil his first look of his pet project Viswaroop on June 8 at the Raffles Convention Centre.

Made in both Tamil and Hindi, the thriller has an eclectic line-up including Hassan, Rahul Bose, Andrea Jeremiah and Zarina Wahab. Acclaimed director Shekhar Kapur has also pitched in a cameo in the film.

"This year is particularly special for my film and me; it is a great opportunity to present my film on such a large and international scale. I look forward to unveiling the first look of Viswaroop and I am hopeful that it will be well received," said Haasan in a statement.

IIFA weekend, the annual travelling awards show, will be held from June 7 to 9 this year.

The weekend will be filled with events including Bollywood film premieres, IIFA Rocks (a fusion of music and a fashion show) and film workshops. The weekend will then culminate with a glittering awards presentation ceremony.

Vicky Donor star Ayushman Khurana and Desi Boyz siren Chitrangada Singh will host IIFA Rocks stage on June 8, while Sonu Sood's action drama Maximum will also be screened.
