Meet the newest faces in Bollywood

Mumbai: Bollywood has many surprises in store for the audience in 2016, with an array of star kids and other fresh faces set to make their debuts.

Anil Kapoor’s son Harshvardhan; Dilip Kumar and Saira Banu’s grandniece, Sayesha Saigal; and filmmaker J.P. Dutta’s daughter, Nidhi, will make their foray into the film industry.

Harshvardhan, brother of actress Sonam Kapoor, will kick-start his film career with director Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra’s Mirzya, a love story. He earlier worked as an assistant director with filmmaker Anurag Kashyap.

Mirzya will also feature newcomer Saiyami Kher, the granddaughter of veteran actress Usha Kiran and niece of actress Tanvi Azmi. She has previously worked in Telugu film Rey.

Actor Shah Rukh Khan, who was involved in movies that catapulted actresses Anushka Sharma and Deepika Padukone — Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi (2008) and Om Shanti Om (2007) respectively — to fame, will be seen opposite three newcomers in his upcoming films Fan and Raees. Mahira Khan, the face of the Pakistani entertainment industry, will be making her Bollywood debut opposite him in Raees. And in Maneesh Sharma’s Fan, the 50-year-old actor will share screen space with debutantes Waluscha De Sousa and Shriya Pilgaonkar, daughter of Marathi actor Sachin.

Another actor from Pakistan, Mawra Hocane will try her luck in Bollywood with Sanam Teri Kasam. She is a VJ and has acted on TV shows Aahista Aahista and Nikhar Gaye Gulab Sare.

Sayesha Saigal, grandniece of legendary actor Kumar, will be seen opposite Ajay Devgn in the Diwali release Shivaay. She made her acting debut with Telugu movie Akhil: The Power of Jua.

Nidhi, daughter of veteran filmmaker J.P. Dutta and yesteryear actress Bindiya Goswami, will make her debut in Jee Bhar Ke Jee Le, opposite Ajit Sodhi, son of another yesteryear actress Nafisa Ali.

Filmmaker Ashutosh Gowariker’s next, Mohenjo-Daro, will see former beauty pageant contestant Pooja Hegde making her Bollywood debut opposite Hrithik Roshan.

Hegde started her acting career with the Tamil superhero film Mugamoodi in 2012 and has featured in Telugu films Oka Laila Kosam and Mukunda.

Punjabi singer-actor Diljit Dosanjh will be seen in Abhishek Chaubey’s Udta Punjab as a policeman opposite Kareena Kapoor Khan, while actor Ayushmann Khurrana’s brother, Aparshakti, will star in Aamir Khan’s Dangal. Boxer Ritika Singh will make her acting debut opposite R. Madhavan in the upcoming bilingual sports-drama Saala Khadoos.
