Speaking exclusively through a close friend, 50 Cent said he was "looking forward to giving his everything" at the gig at the
city's Media City Amphitheatre on December 21.
Friend Sean Rashid, who is also presenting 50 Cent in concert in conjunction with SLC Live, said they were already
anticipating a sell-out performance.
Big heart
He said: "50 Cent does not like to disappoint and that is why the show will be amazing. He takes what he does very seriously and always maintains the concert is about the music and nothing else. He has such a big heart and I know he will love the people of Dubai as they will love him. We are so excited to present 50 Cent accompanied by surprise guests from G-Unit on the final performance of his sold-out world tour. It's an honour really."
Since the release of his debut album, to his latest release, Curtis, 50 Cent has become one of the biggest and most
successful artists on the international hip hop scene. He was recognised at the 2007 World Music Awards as the World's Best Rap/Hip Hop Artist, with the award being presented to 50 Cent based on worldwide sales.
Perfect candidate
Rashid, a music promoter from New York, added: "I came to Dubai in April this year and simply fell in love with the place. It
is ideal for music concerts with such a wide range of people living in one place.
"I have visited five times since and knew 50 Cent would be a perfect candidate for a great gig here. I called his entourage
and suggested it and they snapped it up in an instant."
Around 10,000 tickets will go on sale tomorrow via www.1boxoffice.com With a capacity of 14,000 people, a further allocation for the event will be available at various retail outlets which will be announced in the near future.
Breakdown
Curtis James Jackson III was born on July 6, 1975 and is better known by his stage name 50 Cent.
Born in South Jamaica, Queens, in New York, US, 50 Cent began drug dealing at the age of 12 during the 1980s' crack epidemic.
He finally managed to drag himself out of the rut in order to pursue a rap career - a move which saw him get shot nine times in 12 months in the year 2000.
Success
His lucky break came in 2002 when he was discovered by rapper Eminem and signed to Interscope Records, after releasing his mixtape Guess Who's Back?
With the help of Eminem and Dr Dre, who produced his first major commercial success, he became one of the highest-selling rap artists in the world.
Following the release of his albums Get Rich or Die Tryin' and The Massacre, 50 Cent achieved multi-platinum success, selling more than 21 million records worldwide.
Many talents
Things continued to grow and in 2003, he founded the record label G-Unit Records, which signed successful rappers such as Young Buck, Lloyd Banks, and Tony Yayo.
A man of many talents, 50 Cent has also pursued an acting career, appearing in the semi-autobiographical film Get Rich or Die Tryin' in 2005 and the Iraq War film, Home of the Brave, in 2006.
