Sanjay Rajguru is a Dubai-based parent. He reveals his top ten list.
The chillax meter A gadget that gives them a reading of their combined chillout and relax factors, this meter tells them when to tune out and slip into a different wavelength. Becomes operational particularly during exams, when parents list out dos and don'ts or when arguing with friends over the top ten pop songs or hot fashion trends.
The clock Informs them with unfailing accuracy when their friends will show up online or at the mall. Also sets off alarm bells to warn them that they cannot push mum for more playtime or favours.
The kool-o-meter Goes off to indicate how cool or far from cool things like clothes and music from their daddy's time are.
The auto text generator Akin to an electronic dictionary, it helps them send and receive text messages most of which are way beyond adult comprehension.
The duh gong Rings each time something that is obvious to them is totally oblivious to the parent.
The ratings meter Offers a reading on just about everything from a scale of zero (least interesting) to 10 (most interesting). They fervently believe life would be more exciting if all classrooms had one.
The bling instrument Goes bling in proportion to the quantity of the bling on display.
The thing-o-meter Measures the level of undesirability of things. Occasionally may measure certain people who fall off the scale on the kool-o-meter as in “that thingy''.
The soo-machine A gadget that gauges the extent or severity of situations as in “the party was soo not happening''.
The life indicator Informs everybody how long they can survive after their life support system (read iPod,
internet and cellphone) has been withdrawn by parents.
