Do you make music? Do you live in the UAE? Do you fancy yourself a record deal with Sony Music Entertainment?

This is your chance. Project: Aloft Star is accepting online submissions from UAE-based bands, artists and songwriters of their original compositions between October 1 to October 14, for a chance to win a distribution deal from Sony Music Entertainment.

The contest, organised by Aloft Hotels, has been in operation around the world for eight years, but has only recently expanded into the UAE.

Participants will be mentored by producers, stylists, lyricists and choreographers. The winner will record their own music video, to be released by Sony Music.

“At Sony Music Entertainment Middle East, we are committed to regional artists, having built careers for talent including The5, Nathalie Saba, Omar Kamal and Laith Abu Joda in the past few years,” said Mike Fairburn, general manager of Sony Music Middle East.

“The UAE music scene is diverse and constantly evolving, and our expertise lies in working with the newest acts, and helping them express and develop their passion whilst connecting them with new fans and opportunities across the Middle East region,” he added.

Four finalists, three selected by judges and the fourth through online voting, will be shortlisted. Between October 15 and October 29, people can vote for their favourite artist; finals will take place at Aloft Abu Dhabi on November 10.
