Esther Eden is on her way to greatness. The 17-year-old Indian-born, UAE-raised singer-songwriter has officially signed with Universal Music MENA, representatives said on Monday.
She made headlines in 2014 when Jessie J visited her school in Dubai, and Eden impressed the UK star with an original song she’d written. Jessie J filmed the performance on her phone and invited Eden to join her on stage at RedFestDXB later that night to perform the song in concert in front of more than 10,000 people.
Since then, and despite some online trolls, Eden began the process of writing her debut album. She is currently finalising it, and told tabloid! that although she usually performs down-tempo pop and acoustic music, her debut effort is ‘electro dance’.
Eden is also a participant in the Yasalam Emerging Talent Competition, which will give one UAE-based act the chance to perform at the annual Abu Dhabi Corniche festival, Beats on the Beach, at the end of November.
