Singer-songwriter Sia has joined Disney Pixar’s Finding Dory to perform the film’s end-credit song, Unforgettable.

American songwriter Irving Gordon wrote the song in 1951, and it was most popularly sung by Nat King Cole. The song won a Grammy in 1992 when Cole’s daughter Natalie Cole sang it as a tribute to her late father on an album of duets.

Five-time Grammy nominee Sia, who recently announced her 22-city North American Nostalgic for the Present tour, performed the song for the first time on The Ellen DeGeneres Show.

DeGeneres, coincidentally, is the voice of Dory.

“Dory’s story makes me teary. When Ellen asked me, I couldn’t refuse,” Sia said in a statement.

Finding Dory director Andrew Stanton has long been a fan of the native Australian performer.

“In the same way Robbie Williams did his own unique twist on a classic song for Finding Nemo, Sia captures the soulful truth of the Nat King Cole classic Unforgettable, and makes it all her own,” Stanton said.

Finding Dory is the sequel to 2003’s animation blockbuster Finding Nemo. The film’s cast includes Idris Elba, Ed O’Neill, Ty Burrell, Diane Keaton and Albert Brooks amongst others.

It releases in the UAE on June 16.
