du Arena, the 40,000 person capacity venue on Yas Island in Abu Dhabi, is getting a face lift.

Built in 2009, it has been witness to some of the biggest concerts in the city, from Rihanna to the Rolling Stones. On April 25, Robbie Williams will perform and on October 8, Dave Matthews Band will take over.

Now, organisers have announced a handful of “enhancements”.

They’ve introduced the Village, a 7,000 square metre area that will serve as a common area just past the entrance gates. There, people can hang out while surrounded by food and beverage options and picnic tables.

The Suites are a more exclusive addition. 10 purpose-built suites that offer a clear view of the du Arena stage, they’re luxurious and customisable, made for a group of 15 people each with their own dedicated food and beverage service. They can be booked individually per event, or for year-long corporate contracts.

Interlocked brick paving has been introduced to the paths leading to the grass centre of the venue, something which organisers hope will provide added comfort to attendees with disabilities and families with children.

Queuing times will be shortened, as attendees have 10 food and beverage counters to choose from; they also say prices have been reduced by 10-20 per cent. “We are on a continual quest to ensure that all visitors to the du Arena have an enjoyable entertainment experience, and these significant improvements undoubtedly add to this,” said John Lickrish, CEO of Flash Entertainment.
