Indian santoor maestro Shivkumar Sharma will return to the UAE for a two hour concert called Jal on October 23 at Ductac, Mall of the Emirates, Dubai.

Sharma, who first performed in Dubai more than three decades ago, has since performed several times across the UAE, each time with a different ensemble.

“I was born and raised in Kashmir and I have always been influenced by the nature that surrounded me. My father introduced me to the Santoor when I was 13 and since then it has been a long journey of discovery and creation. The music of the Santoor brings out a deep connection between music, man and nature,” he says of the stringed instrument he’s best associated with.

For Jal, Sharma will be joined by renowned percussionists Yogesh Samsi on the Tabla and Giridhar Udupa on the Ghatam. The trio, performing together for the first time, are expected to create an improvised recital from start to finish inspired by rhyths from the North and South of India.

Tickets are priced at Dh100, Dh200 and Dh400, and are available at the Ductac box office. Call 04-3414777 or go to www.ductac.org.
