International popstar Pink wowed 32,000 fans with a jaw-dropping performance during the closing night of the Yasalam 2017 After-Race Concerts, on the sidelines of the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.
The crowd witnessed the singer perform her latest hits What About Us and Just Like Fire from her new album Beautiful Trauma, along with a selection of her well-loved classics in a powerful, punchy performance. She also delivered big hits including Trouble, Pill, and U and Ur Hand from the du Arena stage in an emotionally-charged performance with her eye-popping onstage presence.
Pink made a grand entrance onto the stage, blasting the original party-starting track from her 2001 album, Missundaztood, which had fans singing along to every note and truly getting the party started.
During the opening song, her talented dance troupe flipped their way throughout her performance and mimicked Pink’s trademark attitude in a baggy double denim ensemble.
As she made her way through favourites such as Sober and Blow Me One Last Kiss, she delivered then with a high-energy, high octave performance that evidently pleased her fans. She also showcased her vocals in a raw, stripped back section of the performance, serenading the crowd with 2006 smash hit Who Knew and Perfect, released in 2010.
Along with her own songs, she also covered fellow platinum blonde popstar Gwen Stefani in a mashup of Funhouse and Just a Girl, along with taking it back a notch with a Janice Joplin cover, and What’s Going On from 4 Non Blondes, a true trip down memory lane that had the crowd enchanted.
But the standout and most memorable moment of the evening was undoubtedly her encore with So What, which saw her fly above the du Arena flipping, cartwheeling, and dramatically dropping towards the crowds as she soared over fans with flying high fives, all while fixed to an aerial wire.
UAE dance duo Hollaphonic opened for Pink. Made up of Olly Wood and Greg Stainer, the British pair set the lively tone of the evening, along with Emerging Talent Competition winner, Danny Aridi, who wowed the crowd from the Village Stage, after being titled the third winner of the annual competition on Thursday.
Pink’s performance followed four nights of after-race concerts, kicking off with Calvin Harris on Thursday, J Cole on Friday and Mumford & Sons on Saturday.
