The role of a journalist is to collect and disseminate factual information about current events and issues to create a report for broadcast or publication to a mass audience.

But why let the facts get in the way of a good story?

While I pride myself on being the "go-to" girl when it comes to revealing the acts, artists and celebrities heading to the UAE, sometimes I just want to join 99 per cent of other women out there and just gossip. Plain and simple.

So forgive and allow me this luxury, just once, because there are far too many names being batted about by my extremely credible sources for me to keep it all in.

NB: Don't rush out and have T-shirts printed with Bruno Mars' (Yes, Bruno Mars) face on. It's all just hearsay. But don't they say gossip makes the world go round?

Rumour No 1

Snoop Dogg jetting in to Abu Dhabi International Airport and being limousine-driven to a nearby fancy hotel before a final show — all before the summer heat gets too hot to handle.

Where: Since the music scene in Abu Dhabi is more than dominated by Flash Entertainment, an educated guess would say Yas Arena over Flash Forum.

This is one boy who would easily attract the crowds in their thousands.

When: The first weekend in May was being discussed, according to Snoop's folk in the US.

Why watch: Calvin Cordozar Broadus, Jr, better known by his stage name Snoop Dogg, is an American entertainer, rapper, record producer and actor. He's one of Dr Dre's most notable proteges. Snoop's debut album, Doggystyle, was released in 1993 and went quadruple platinum.

When: April 28 is the date on the contract.

Why Watch: In the winter of 2005, southern soulster T-Pain burst onto the rhythmic scene with his debut, Rappa Ternt Sanga, and things just haven't been the same since.

Formerly down with the rap pack known as the Nappy Headz, T-Pain was tired of the borders dividing hip-hop and soul and went solo. He's as famous for his hats as his music.

Sean Paul books a spot in Dubai after "falling in love" with Abu Dhabi in November when he performed at Yasalam.

Where: Chi @The Lodge

When: May 5.

Why Watch: Dance Hall was Sean Paul's first love, closely followed by DJing and penning his own songs. In 1996, Sean Paul released his debut successful single Baby Girl (Don't Cry), and led to more Jamaican hits.

Rumour No 5

Ne-Yo (yawn, we've heard this many times) is apparently "pumped" about coming to Dubai but can't seem to find a date in his overflowing diary. Our sources confirm he was signed for a gig on April 7, which fell through because, yes, he was double booked.

Where: Venues are being considered, depending on dates.

When: Was April 7,now May is more likely, but it could be as late as November. Contracts are signed, though — 100 per cent.

Why Watch: In an interview last year, he said: "A songwriter can have a normal life. You're an ordinary person. But as an artist, some things can't be ignored. You have to make sure you look like a million bucks. There's a certain image you have to maintain." So keep your promise and your "image" and come to Dubai.

Where: Four venues, including The Madinat, are being considered. When: June 9 (but could change, depending on venue).

Why watch: Because quite apart from the fact that he sings, raps, dances and is Cheryl Cole's best mate, the outfits will blow you away. Legend.
