Filipino singer-songwriter Julie Iris Fernandez-Lim is back in Dubai for the romantic acoustic show on Friday.

Popularly known as Juris, the 29-year-old singer is one of the Philippine’s top acoustic artists and is currently a member of ASAP Sessionistas in the weekly musical variety show ASAP.

Dubbed Juris — A Love to Last — Live in Dubai, the show will be held at Club 7 Bar in Park Regis Kris Kin Hotel.

Juris was the voice behind the greatest hits of the band MYMP. Her hits include Kahit Na, Sa Kanya, Tell Me Where It Hurts and Di Lang Ikaw to name a few.

Following her performance in Dubai in 2013, where she performed with David Pomeranz, Juris assures fans and acoustic lovers of another memorable night with her all-time favourite hits.

“They will hear songs they have always loved to hear from me and also songs that I have recorded since my last visit here in Dubai,” she says in an email interview with Gulf News tabloid!. “This time a very talented artist, Maestro Francis Concio, will accompany me in some of my favourite songs, which I’m excited about because it will be our first time to perform on stage.”

After four years from your last performance in Dubai, what has changed for you?
I think what mostly changed about me is my personal life. I still sing or express songs the way I know how and how I understand them.

You’re a mother of two now. How does it change you as a singer and as a person?
As a singer, it’s great to have more inspirations when singing love songs. Personally, I can see I give more attention to having more to family time.

Aside from ASAP, what other projects are you busy doing now?
I’m blessed to be asked to sing for a TV series and be invited to events and TV guestings.

Do you have any upcoming album?
According to one of the producers from my record label, we are making one soon.

What are the important lessons you’ve learned being part of the ASAP Sessionistas?
Humility strengthens bonds in a group.

How do you complement each other? Is there competition among the artists?
No competition. All are very helpful and generous with their knowledge in music. During performances, each of us is mindful of what the other needs.

You are known for doing original and revival soundtrack for different television series and movies. For you as a singer, how important do you think is a soundtrack in the success of a television series?
I think story is most important. The soundtrack, for me who is also a viewer, makes a scene more relatable than it already is. Filipinos love it when they can relate emotionally.

Do you have particular songs in mind that you want to do, be it in a movie or television soap opera?
A new Ogie Alcasid composition would be a privilege.

Among the movie or television soundtracks you’ve done, what particular song is special for you and why?
The recent ones were special because I was pregnant with my two kids. But probably Forevermore is extra special. It will always remind me of my solo spot during ASAP Sessionistas concert in Araneta last February 2011. I sang it and I just got engaged. I was in tears thinking about it and my husband to be.
