Imagine Dragons’ Radioactive is the longest-running song in the history of the Billboard charts, and it continues to reach new heights: It has hit diamond status.
The Recording Industry Association of America said on Tuesday that Radioactive joins Lady Gaga’s Bad Romance, Justin Bieber’s Baby and Eminem’s Love the Way You Lie and Not Afraid as a digital diamond success. Elton John’s Candle in the Wind/The Way You Look Tonight is the only physical single to accomplish that feat.
RIAA awards diamond plaques to singles and albums that reach 10x platinum status. That once was the equivalent of selling 10 million songs or albums, but has changed since RIAA began incorporating streaming from YouTube, Spotify and others. Radioactive has sold 7.7 million tracks, according to Nielsen SoundScan, and the band’s record label, Interscope Records, said the song has been streamed more than 366 million times.
Radioactive won a Grammy and spent 87 weeks on Billboard’s Hot 100 chart.
