Florence Welch has revealed she suffered a broken foot while leaping off stage during her energetic live set at Coachella last weekend. The news comes following the announcement that she will be performing at Glastonbury festival in June, for the first time since 2010, although the star said she is determined not to let the injury disrupt her current tour.

“I’m so sorry to say that after what was one of my favourite shows ever at Coachella, I have discovered I have broken my foot from leaping off the stage,” she wrote on her Facebook page, alongside an X-ray image of her broken foot. “Unfortunately while this heals, my performances will have to be somewhat stripped back.”

Welch is currently still set to perform at the second week of Coachella, along with a string of US and European dates before Glastonbury. She said: “I’m so sorry, I’m pretty devastated, but I still want to do the shows. I understand this is not what you were expecting, but I hope it’s just as enjoyable. I’m going to try and make it super special for you.”

The star had received positive reviews for her Coachella performance, which saw her frequently jump from the stage as well as preview several songs from her forthcoming album How Big, How Blue, How Beautiful.

Welch added that she expects to be “back on my feet” in time for her Glastonbury show. “This album was so much about making something from what was broken, so lets see what we can do with this.”
